The Simulacra is about living, beauty, intellect, art, philosophy and everything in between; through looking at humanity, philosophy and a whole load of other subjects I try to bring out some of the things that make up myself and bring depth to my experiences. I aim to write about a range of subjects, but you’ll notice some themes reoccur pretty often… I take a lot of influence from the discussions I have with people I know, my favourite authors, certain philosophers, and other blogs and podcasts that are listed in the links section. The best way to get an idea of what the site is about is to have a flick through some of the old posts.

A big thanks to my friends and readers for bringing so many ideas for me to feed on and encouraging me with their thoughts and comments.

I hope you enjoy your time spent here, and feel free to drop a comment or an email if you have any thoughts on anything that you read.

Simulacrum (plural: simulacra), from the Latin simulare, “to make like, to put on an appearance of”, originally meaning a material object representing something (such as a cult image representing a deity, or a painted still-life of a bowl of fruit). By the 1800s it developed a sense of a “mere” image, an empty form devoid of spirit, and descended to connote a specious or fallow representation.
